Week #1 June 23 – 27   Teachers
Science in the City for Juniors Ages 5-7 Laura Palacio
This week will focus on weather, clouds, fog, vapors, liquids, gooo and sunshine!
Come work in our lab to experiment. We provide the goggles and the test tubes. Whoppee! (This might be a little messy)
Science in the City Ages 8& up Lawana Sweetland
This is for the older kids to observe and experiment. We will be exploring solids, liquids and structures. They will learn to safely operate simple power tools, so get your goggles out. What happens when you mix, test, build and experiment? Tons of fun!
We will use our outdoor lab on the big messy projects and for our launch site.
The Traveling Cook Ages 8& up Anita Wu and Julia Egan-Bell
Children will visit recipes from far away places. Join us for a culinary trip and learn about other cultures through their foods. This is a hands-on cooking class with lots of taste testing!
Week #2 June 30 – July 3 (4 Days, $180 for week)    
Fairy Tales for Juniors Ages 5-7 Laura Palacio
Come listen to classic fairy tales and we will bring them to life. Transform yourself into the characters in the tales of king, queens, dragons and fairies. Children will also build castles and forts for dramatic play. Bring you imagination!
Sewing Ages 8 & up Rita Gelini and Julia Egan-Bell
No experience is necessary to enjoy this class. Try you hand at sewing puppets, purses, pillows, and potpourri. Design your own shapes, sizes and colors in the materials you like. That is what sewing is all about – personal style!
Jewelry-Make it and Take It Ages 8 & up Lawana Sweetland
Come visit our little bead shop to choose you own materials. We will start at the top with hair accessories, to earrings, necklaces, and bracelets. This class is great for anyone who enjoys making gifts for others. We will learn to use hand tools, wire and polymer clays.
Week #3 July 7 - 11    
Let’s Get Cooking for Juniors Ages 5-7 Lawana Sweetland
We will be whipping up some delicious treats for your tasting delights. Children will prepare a breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert. We will shake, bake, scramble and roll! Come join us for some cooking fun. This is a great class to start the joy of cooking.
Field Trippin Ages 8 & up Fred Ramos
Come be a tourist in San Francisco. Students will travel and explore a new destination each day.
Get your maps out and wear some hiking shoes. Students will keep a photo journal of their travels.
Fine Arts Workshop Ages 8 & up Lisa Hubbard
Lakeshore School is famous for its outstanding art program and we are lucky to have their Artist in Residence teaching this workshop. Students will explore and experiment with a wealth of materials while working in the studio. Each child will be encouraged while studying basic design, contour, gesture and still life to build a portfolio of their individual works.
Week #4 July 14 – 18    
The Art of Illustration for Juniors Ages 5-7 Athena Lafferty
We will use some all time favorite stories as inspiration for creating art. Students will focus on the art techniques from a range of illustrators to try the various materials used. We will try chalks, pastels and printmaking. Students will hear many stories and create some of their own while using puppets to present them to the class.
Earth Wind and Fire Ages 8 & up Michael Lee
Have fun learning about the science of nature in our garden and outdoor labs. Children will explore gardening, harvesting and even get to cook some of the harvest. Activities include a day trip down the coast to pick berries! We will also do some climate studies and make kites.
Cooking, Pastries and Preserves Ages 9 & up Sharon Collins
Come and work with Sharon, our "pieologist". Students will field trip down the coast to go berry picking!!!!! We will make sweet and savory pies and preserves from our harvest! We will mix, taste and test in our kitchen laboratory while compiling a great notebook of recipes. Children will be preparing plenty of goodies to go home (if they last that long). This one fills up fast. Materials fee $25.00
Week #5 July 21 - 25    
Drama with Folktales for Juniors Ages 5-7 Athena Lafferty
We will hear many folktales then build 3-dimensional figures using fabric, feathers, found art, boxes and paints to create folktale characters. We will play drama games and transform ourselves with face paints to perform for classmates.
Crafters Delight Ages 7 & up Sharon Collins
Start with Aromatherapy where students will create their own blends for bath salts, scented waters, sachets and love potions. Projects will include machine sewing, shrinky dink jewels, baskets and rubber stamping! Get ready for a week of fun and the time to create your own handiwork.
Nature Explorers Ages 8 & up Michael Lee
Make and take home your own habitats. Learn about reptiles, amphibians, and birds through hands on experiences with our live specimens. Learn about their environments, food, care and keeping. We will put together a nature explorers kit for you to take with you so you can continue exploring!
Week #6 July 28 – August 1st    
What's in a story? for Juniors Ages 5-7 Athena Lafferty
Let's investigate stories for cooking and science. Whatever is in the story we will try with games, dramatizations, science experiments and cooking projects. There will be lots of wonderful story telling and the projects will really bring the stories to life.
Scrap booking Ages 8 & up Sharon Collins
Handmade books galore! We will work with collage, rubber stamps, sequins, stickers, paint and everything else we can get our hands on to create our own books. We will being using digital cameras to show our different looks to include in our books. Don’t miss this!
Summer of love (of nature) Ages 8 & up Michael Lee
Learn to love nature through exploring our environment. We will make our own paper from plant material, search for natural dyes to color our shirts, make bug huts and bird feeders while studying wild life.
Week #7 August 18 - 22    
Junior Camp Ages 5 - 8 Megan Cizek/Sharon Collins
Our staff will provide a variety of camp arts and crafts while we cook and sing! This camp is for the younger camper. We also encourage new "kinders" to camp as a way to acclimate children and parents to the Lakeshore community. We will be working in small groups with plenty of care.
