Fantasy Creatures for Juniors

Join us in our art studio where children will learn multi media techniques and use of tools! Goggles provided!
Children will use wire, cloth, paint, clay, cellophane and plaster tape to discover and build things with wings, winged fairies, dragonflies and create fantasy creatures from their imagination. They will be investigating specimens. Come and see what's buzzin'.

Ancient Art of Papermaking

This is for the older kids to experiment and explore solids and liquids while papermaking in our lab. They will observe natural fibers and their properties while making their own custom decorative papers, stationary, boxes and books. Children will collect local grasses to incorporate into their work. Techniques will include embellishment, marbleizing, paper folding, and dyeing.

Cheerleading and Dance Camp

Come join the fun while we sing, yell and clap to the beat. We will be learning CHANTS, CHEERS and a dance routine to perform for other campers. Students will also work on some related arts and crafts like pom-pom making. This camp offers the chance for kids to be dramatic while working as a team. Who likes to move it, move it?

Visual Arts Workshop

Work in our studio with Mrs. Hubbard, Artist in residence @ Lakeshore School and The De Young Museum. Students will have the opportunity to explore a great wealth of materials such as charcoal, oil pastels, and acrylics to build a portfolio of work. Projects will include field outings.

Mixed Media Studio for Juniors

Is it art or science? It is hard to do one without the other? Join Sharon Collins, Mentor Artist, in the studio to glue, glitter, sand, sculpt, squirt, paint, print, collect, collage, wire and wonder for an in depth view of how artists really work to experiment and create. Students will be using actual artists’ tools, hiking to locations and building a portfolio.

The Art of Illustration for Juniors

We will use some all time favorite stories as inspiration for creating art. Students will focus on the art techniques from a range of illustrators to try the various materials used. We will try chalks, pastels and printmaking. Students will hear many stories and create some of their own while using puppets to present them to the class.

Fabric Design

Join us while we study patterns and design our own fabrics. Students will be shown techniques to stamp, paint, dye, draw, print, transfer, and discharge yards of fabric. The focus of the class will be natural fibers. We will do some simple weaving and sewing to construct a finished product. Watch out "Project Runway"!

Join our Master Storyteller, Olive! See. Touch. Taste. Hear. Smell. The five senses have a vivid vocabulary. We will observe nature with a journal, a dictionary companion and many stories from around the world to help us appreciate nature. Olive will show you a new way of observing environments through the world of storytelling.

Become an architect and engineer as you design and create small models and big structures. This hands–on class will have you building domes, bridges, skyscrapers and creative contraptions!

Explore the treasures of the deep waters and the life within; fish, plants, shells, sea stars and messages in a bottle. Students will discover a world of fun through magnification. We will build with magnetic sand and go on a dune dig.

Calling all wildlife lovers! Begin with soil samples and travel up the vines of trees to discover what lives in this unique environment. Build you own eco system to learn how all things work together to create the rain forest.

Our staff will provide a variety of camp arts and crafts while we cook and sing! This camp is for the younger camper. We also encourage new "kinders" to camp as a way to acclimate children and parents to the Lakeshore School Community. We will be working in small groups with plenty of care. This camp will be held at Lakeshore School.
